Agile Product Owner – Contract to Hire

As a Product Owner , you will be a key player in translating business objectives into actionable development goals. You will work closely with our Agile Project Manager and a 20-person engineering team to deliver high-quality software solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Product Owner or similar role in an Agile environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Agile principles and frameworks including Scrum and Kanban.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and lead tasks to completion.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Experience with SaaS products is a plus.
  • Must be US-based and legally authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures user stories are “ready” for development to start work.
  • Ensures each story has the correct acceptance criteria.
  • Gathers, manages, and prioritizes the product backlog.
  • Ensures close collaboration with the development team.
  • Works closely with engineering and quality assurance to ensure the right customer problem is solved. This can involve sharing market research and competitive analysiswith the team to best focus their efforts.
  • Has technical product knowledge or specific domain expertise.
  • Contributes to the work of the Product Manager as they define a product differentiation strategy.
  • Tracks progress towards the release of a product.
  • The Product Owner MAY be asked to work on some or all of the following tasks:
  • Create the product visionand roadmapwhich accomplishes the goal of the vision.
  • Develops positioningfor the product.
  • Work with a cross-functional team in planning a product release.
  • Develops personas either alone or in conjunction with a team including user experience experts.
  • Define customer needs and the associated features to meet those needs.
  • Advocates on behalf of the customer for the development team.
  • Prioritizes defect or bug resolution.

  • Lead the development team as the key decision-maker for product-related matters.

  • Create and maintain a product backlog, ensuring that the team always has an appropriate mix of well-defined tasks.
  • Prioritize the backlog based on business objectives and ROI.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders including business leaders, designers, developers, and customers to develop features that meet business needs.
  • Conduct market research to identify customer needs and opportunities.
  • Ensure that the team delivers high-quality work that meets the acceptance criteria.
  • Provide status updates and adjust plans as necessary to meet goals and timelines.
  • Resolve conflicts within the team to ensure a smooth development process.
